July 2014

July 31st: At least he wasn't late this month getting all these pictures ready!

Even though Lucie was gone for a big part of this month, we still have a lot of pictures for July, even if I had to borrow from Bebe and TC (and later from Caroline's iPhone.)

Of course, with Lucie out of the picture there wasn't much to show from Oregon. We did tear up a corner of the yard and put in fake grass so that Buttercup can have a toilet that looks better than the rest of the yard rather than worse, but I didn't take any pictures. Once they blow in the bark dust (Caroline's Father's Day gift - no shoveling of bark dust this summer :-)!) (only the :-) is part of the emoticon - the ! is for excitement and the last ) is just to close the parenthetical statement...) maybe I'll take a picture of the finished product...

We had an excellent 4th of July fireworks show again this year in Forest Grove - the fire department really does a good job, and unlike the downtown Portland or Vancouver fireworks you don't have to show up hours early or spend hours in traffic when it is done. But, this year I didn't take any pictures so you'll just have to imagine them... Boom! Bang! Pop Pop Pop! Wheeeeee! Boom!

Greg and Leiza came for a short visit and everyone went to the coast while I was at work. Lucie also went to the county fair without me this year too. Actually she went without me or Caroline and it was quite the test for both of us to let her go with her friend and some other chaperone... but she made it back no worse for wear...

And that is about it for July...

My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean... Actually Bonnie lives at The Crab Shack! So does Gilbert. I liked Bonnie best, but I think Dad liked Gilbert. This little guy didn't live at the Crab Shack - he was just at the pet store... It just wouldn't be right to go to the beach and not feed the seagulls!
Learning how to surf took the whole family... see TC's Baywatch run into the waves?! Dad had to try to get creative... And then he had to go and mess with it in Photoshop too... At least he didn't mess with me (too much...)
I got to see a set of baby bluebirds! While I was in Georgia, Mom was being mean to Buttercup... look at how patient Buttercup was! I was pretty patient too... you try hand feeding an anole! I don't even know how Mom got Buttercup to sit for this one!
I guess my garden went crazy while I was gone... Mom must have done a good job watering it... We went crabbing on Mr. (I mean Pirate) Steve's dock - they wanted me to kiss the crab, but I don't think so! Why yes I am Queen of the Doofi... why do you ask? (that is Doof-eye, not Doof-ee - you know, the plural of Doofus...) Along with all my other adventures, I got to hatch a butterfly too!
Buttercup and I did great at the Hillsboro Puppy Parade - we won the talent show before the parade! Allowing me to demonstrate once again why I am Queen of the Doofi (using Buttercup's dog toy prize...) Who knew Buttercup was such a big history buff? I got to get in the Pacific Ocean in July too! And while it was a sunny day, you'll note not many people in the water...
We also stopped in the Tillamook Cheese Factory - and in case you didn't figure it out, Greg and Leiza went with us! It has been really warm this summer, so we got Buttercup her own swimming pool. I like to keep Mom on her toes... this was a surprise "Let's take a selfie together!" moment... Look at Buttercup's new bling! The old collar got a little trashed at the beach...
