March 2013

March 31st: This month people actually came to Oregon for Spring Break... What were they thinking?

What can I say about March...

I really need to start writing stuff down as the month goes along. Otherwise I get to the end and don't know what to write about. Even with the pictures this month, I almost forgot about all the pictures from Cathy, Chris, and Jane's visit (or is that supposed to be Cathy's, Chris's (or just Chris'), and Jane's visit.) But the pictures don't tell the whole story... no pictures from where they went while Lucie was in school and I was at work; no pictures of Voodoo Donuts; no pictures from the restaurant where Lucie hated the too fancy tomato soup and grilled cheese (good thing there is always a McDonald's close at hand); no pictures of Lucie's new favorite game, Apples to Apples...

Also, now we seem to need a special occasion to take pictures. That's probably because Lucie is so charming about it now and neither Caroline nor I really want to be in the picture either...

Anyway... Another month has come and gone. Ninety days... Two thousand one hundred sixty hours... One hundred twenty nine thousand six hundred minutes... Seven million seven hundred seventy six thousand seconds... Sounds like a long time doesn't it? How about only 24.7% of a year? Or maybe 0.2% of a lifetime? Maybe I just need to spend less time on this paragraph!

Next month will start with me spending two weeks in Japan and then Lucie and Caroline will spend a little time in Austin. Hopefully some time in between we'll spend a little time together and maybe take a few pictures for the web site. See you in a month.

Sure, cleaning out the water feature stinks for Dad (literally, I understand) but I got to play with a salamander! I'm just hanging out with my new lady friends from Minnesota... that's Jane and Cathy. The first day, Daddy was at work... the second day we went to the aquarium... Mom seems enthralled by the moon jellies... Mom, me, Chris, Cathy, and Jane at the shark tank, contemplating sticking our hands in...
Dad just went ahead and stuck the camera in! Dad doesn't understand why there birds at an aquarium, but I don't care... I got to feed them! After the aquarium we went to see waterfalls... what's the big deal? It's just gravity. What is "just like when we were in college" supposed to mean?
I couldn't believe everything Chris was telling me about Machu Picchu to distract me while we climbed to the top... But we made it! Even through the muddy slop for the last 200 yards... Of course, you can't actually see Multnomah Falls from the top... The next day we went to the beach. So naturally I had to feed the seagulls... Then Cathy and Jane wanted to be Lewis and Clark, but they needed a dog so...
Dad finally put himself in one of the pictures... you can see how warm and sunny it was at the coast... So we went to the Tillamook Cheese Factory! Later in the month Bebe came to visit! I think she's saying "Look! More moss!" but maybe she was pointing to a bird... Apparently it was warmer outside than inside...
Am I stylish or what? Dad says "or what"... How do we get out of here?! Follow me! Look at my stash from the Easter Bunny! And look at my fancy Easter outfit... Of course, all I really care about anyway is the egg hunt!
Even the hammies got to do an egg hunt this year!
